A moving account of a family's journey from Poland to the frozen north of Stalinist Russia's labour camps, to Khazakstan, then on to India, and eventually to England. Everyone should read this book, it tells an honest story in dishonest times. The importance of family, culture, and hope to are conveyed in a style that makes every word count. It is an important part of Poland's history (as well as Europe's), as it tells of people fighting for basic freedoms that we take for granted today.
