Ronan is a leading light of the Irish music scene in London with his band Biblecode Sundays, but where they offer a strong flavour of Irish rock using accordian and fiddle, creating a sound that resembles the Pogues, this solo album is poignant and heartfelt. Ronan has stripped away the bottle-breaking rock and reduced his sound to create a lush and gorgeous collection of what might be described as torch songs - remembrance, love, and family run through the album. The album has a sound of it's own, but can be described as similar to Damien Rice if potential purchasers want a hook to hang it on. It is an album that deserves a lot of attention - Ronan clearly has a great talent as a song-writer and let's hope to hear more from him.
