One of the most popular books on carp fishing in the Uk this book has helped me catch numerous carp. It's written in a very easy to follow style, is packed full of useful tips and snippets of information and has some fantastic illustrations. One of the best chapters in the book is the one on experiments. The authors have conducted a number of scientific experiments to ascertsain exactly how and why certain things work. It really is an eye opener and makes you think about the way that you fish. In addition to the scientific experiments chapter there is also one on the carp and it's environment. Both of the authors are qualified fisheries scientists and this comes across in the book. What they don't know about carp fishing obviously isn't important!! Detailing some of the most up to date methods and strategies available to the carp world this book is definately worth a look. In fact it is probably the best book I have ever read on carp fishing

If you're new to the sport or experienced and looking for some direction, this is the book for you. There are some aspects you will require a fishing companion for eg some of the tactic , but this book is still an excellent read

Having purchased the book over a year ago and being a carp fisherman for over three years I found that the advice on bait application and overall fishing strategies invaluable, it has a given me a real insight into getting closer to understanding the carps mind. The book has given me not only extensive knowledge, but a improvement in results, both on and off the bank, a great read.

There might be good advice in the book, but it is not written well. There is a lot of self-promotion by the authors. The language changes through the book, probably due to being written by more then one author. At least one of these authors is not understable by American reader at all due to extensive use of (probably) British fishing terminology, incomplete phrases and a lot of "scientific" pretense.
The entire chapter on bait does not have a single recipe. Nothing even resembling a recipe. Not even a hint of what common ingredients are.

I am a keen fisherman and this book has enlightned me a lot more I have found out how to approach carp fishing in a mental and phyisical way I really enjoyed the book and recomend it to all fishermen.
