Format:Audio CD
If you have heard Ozrics and was trying to find their best work I would strongly advise you to get this album. I have listened to lots of the other Ozrics albums and I would say this is a collection of their best work. Its the sort of style that takes you on a musical journey. Sploosh! is an awesome track!! If you are stuck which Ozrics album to buy, buy this!! After purchasing this album I decided to sell all my other Ozrics albums as I found their other albums very similar. This is the one that stands out!!

Yeah! This is less of an album than an adventure - I know that just about everyone who has listened to this will agree with me! Although i usually like my music loud and heavy, I have develpoed a real soft spot for this underground somerset band. This album is such a great thing to relax to! So many styles and changes are incorporated in the music not just between tracks but during tracks, too. There is no way I can identify them all! There are great examples of: acid rock, spanish guitars, flute solos, funk, prog and the beat on tracks like sploosh! resonate of some strange trance-rock i don't think ive heard anywhere else. I'm sure theres some reggae in there as well! Overall, a great sounding, original release. Do ozric tentacles even have any peers in what essentially is THEIR mixed up music genre?

Strangeitude was an effective & hugely enjoyable album. Ozric Tentacles could be the only thing I have ever liked about hippy culture, largely because they included energetic slabs of heavy guitar amongst all the ambient detritus. Ozrics were staunchly unique amongst independent artists. No jangly pop songs here, rather epic prog rock instrumentals which against all odds can make people jump around like idiots. Ozric Tentacles are a one-off and they deserve to be a lot more famous. Pink Floyd were never this much fun.
So here we have the remastered version and to be honest it's not much different to the original. I purchased the remaster on CD because my old cassette copy had finally bitten the dust after years of abuse in dodgey car stereos. It certainly sounds bright and clean. The studio engineers have tastefully left the original master intact and concentrated on cleaning everything up. In short it's just as good as the original with better sound quality, one extra track ('Weirditude') and interesting informative sleeve notes by Richard Allen.
Amazingly nothing sounds that dated. I was surprised to learn that 'Sploosh!' is still a toe-tapper for fans of electronic dance music. The title track is also a particular highlight.
Strangeitude is very entertaining and draws on a host of different musical styles to great effect. Everyone will find at least something to like on this album.
