Being a massive fan of Susan Lewis's books I have to say, yet again I was gripped by this one. Love, obsession, lies, deceit & shock. It was truly excellent. Like two of the characters in this story, she must have a very brilliant and intelligent mind to write the way she does. How she manages to have you believing you know the characters so well and almost the outcome of each story and then to turn everything on it's head is both amazing and absorbing. Keeping me up too late at night though. Strange Allure has now become one of my favourite S.Lewis books. A must have!

This is a gripping tale of a strange allure - twisting and turning in typical Susan Lewis style. Her best novel in a while with a touch of "Obsession" and "Darkest Longings" brought bang into the 21st century courtesy of e-mail and psychological manipulation. All the characters and events are believable and one almost lives the roller coaster of emotions experienced by Carla Craig from start to finish. With her usual flourish the author dispels all preconceptions about the conclusion of this book and the reader is left questioning why they just didn't see it coming! WOW...!! This book has it all - passion, intrigue, friendship and deceipt.

THis book, as with all Susan Lewis books will have you gripped from page one! I couldn't put this amazing story down, if it is possible Susan has completely outdone herself in this emotional tail! I laughed and cried aloud and recommended it to so many people all of whom had the same reactions! I can't wait for the next Susan Lewis production!

Format: Paperback
This book i did not find as gripping as some of her other titles (eg, Obsession or Chasing Dreams or Dance While You Can) but i found it an easy read with many twists and turns and a very suprising ending (as always) and maybe even a tad insightful into what it is like to endure and move on from insurmountable grief and dispair and even the most unexpected betrayal. I did feel like I was Carla Craig myself and my heart was heavy throughout the book going through everything she did. I would recommend this book if you are happy with a less exciting and dramatic book from Susan Lewis that is almost all about getting over the worst in your life and moving on ...

Despite the unreal situations that Susan Lewis's characters find themselves in she still manages to make them seem authentic. While you feel in turn sympathy and anger at Carla for her reactions to what is happening to her life you can only feel pity for Chrissie and the way her life turns out and rage at Richard for his amoral attitude to life. A definate light entertainment book and a good read if you want to be taken away from the real world for a while.

As usual with Susan Lewis' novels I wasn't disappointed by 'Strange Allure'. Unlike many novelists Lewis manages to shock and intrigue the reader by the many twists in her novels which is especially true of 'Strange Allure'. The plot centers on Carla who despite being madly in love with Richard (who's deciet you can't even begin to comprehend ) manages to get her heart broken by him when she finds out who her wonderful man has being having a affair with. She finds solace by throwing herself into her work and discovering that the people who she thought she could trust, really aren't the people you should trust. A absolute winner from Lewis who like the other reviewers said out does herself with this offering! A must read!

Again what an incredible read. To be truthful found it rather confusing and hard to get into at the beginning and only persevered because I have such respect for the author, despite having read only a few books to date, but I quickly found it to be very powerful and exceedingly well researched. It has . All the elements of a good read but I would not recommend as bedtime reading if you want to sleep! There are not many chapters that allow you to close the book as Susan's very moorish writing forces you to carry on due to it's many unexpected twists and turns.
