More About the Author

Sophie Pembroke has been writing romance for years, ever since she stayed up all night reading Mills and Boon novels as part of her English degree at Lancaster University. She loves to set her contemporary romance stories in the places she has lived - from the wilds of the Welsh mountains, to the gentile humour of the English country village, or the heat and tension of a London summer. She also has a tendency to make her characters kiss in castles.

Currently, she makes her home in Hertfordshire, with her husband and daughter. She writes love stories in her little spare room office, while drinking too much tea and eating homemade cakes. Or, when things are looking very bad for her heroes and heroines, white wine and dark chocolate.

Sophie keeps a blog at www.SophiePembroke.com, which should be about romance and writing, but is usually about cake and castles instead.

If you're looking for the perfect romance to curl up with on a cold winter's night, then look no further than Sophie Pembroke's fantastic debut novel for Harlequin Romance, Stranded with the Tycoon.

After a long and exhausting day attending a mind-numbingly dull conference, all Dr. Lucinda `Luce' Myles wants to do is go to her hotel room, take off her shoes and have a long soak in the bath. However, on her arrival at The Royal Court Hotel, Luce is stunned when the snooty blonde receptionist behind the desk tells her that they cannot find her booking! As if trying to find somewhere to sleep for the night isn't bad enough, Luce has to contend with a barrage of phone calls and text messages from her hopeless family members who are all expecting her to organize the perfect Christmas for them! But just when she thinks that things cannot possibly get any worse in waltzes a face from the past Luce would much rather forget - Ben Hampton, who just happens be the owner of The Royal Court Hotel!

Luce and Ben had been at University together and they couldn't have been more different. Ben had been the life and soul of the party. Laid back, charming and drop dead gorgeous, Ben had every single female on campus lusting after him - including Luce! However, Ben was more interested in her flatmate than in her and had spent most of the time teasing her for always having her nose in a book and for being unable and unwilling to let her hair down and have some fun. Although many years have passed since the last time the two clapped eyes on one another, Luce immediately realizes that despite the designer suit and bulging business portfolio, Ben Hampton is still the same charismatic playboy who had broken every girl's heart at university.

I very much enjoyed Stranded with the Tycoon. I loved that the lead female was a history buff, and some of the references made me smile. The writing style is easy and engaging, the characters fun and likeable - despite their faults - their back stories worked for me, too. Overall, a very romantic tale which left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I look forward to more from Ms. Pembroke.

"Stranded with the Tycoon" is a delightful romance with a gorgeous setting. A strong sense of place (locations include historical Chester and the snowy wilds of Wales) and engaging characters and story. I thoroughly recommend it.Stranded with the Tycoon (Harlequin Romance Large Print)

great read with slow building simmering attraction 8 Sept. 2013
By nahuel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads and this is my honest review of the book.

If you want a book with simmering attraction slowly building between two characters who think they have nothing in common then you might want to read this book.

Ben lives his life mainly out of the hotels his family owns and doesn't want commitment after what happened in his own past, so he has a one night stand rule.

Luce never gets any time to herself since she always seems to be the one always being responsible, putting others needs ahead of her own, so she has some long, big to do lists.

Ben and Luce get more then they bargin for when Ben trys to get her to relax and think about herself while Ben gets a rude awakening to his life and rules. There was also some interesting suprises in the book.

boo! 11 Sept. 2013

The storyline sounded good, but I couldn't like the hero or the heroine! The hero was a first class JERK, he has a one night rule, he only has one night stands so girls don't "expect " anything from him. He also doesn't work much, just dabbles with the family business. She is a total pain, with a martyr complex. Can not say no, to anyone. Had a very hard time caring what happened to them. I finished the book hoping they would redeem themselves, the author tried to redeem them, but it was hopeless nobody can change that much in a few days. Not only were they completely different people the last chapter, the author left it hanging. I wouldn't waste my money.

Stranded With The Tycoon
Sophie Pembroke
Harlequin Romance, Sep 3 2013, $5.99
ISBN: 9780373742592

A few days before Christmas, historian Lucinda Miles leaves Cardiff to give a lecture at a conference in Chester, England. Afterward her talk she goes to the Royal Court Hotel only to learn the conference coordinator failed to book her room as promised and no vacancies exist here or apparently anywhere else in town. Hampton & Sons hotel chain mogul Ben Hampton intercedes by offering to share the King James Suite, which contains two bedrooms. Having no choice, Luce accepts his kindness while thinking back to when he dated her roommate at college eight years ago while she hit the books.

Ben and Luce are attracted to each other; as he muses how he recalls her name but not her roommate and she recognizes his scar. However, Ben makes it clear that he is a one-night stand man and Luce knows how bad her history with men is. Snowed in, they begin to fall in love, but that may not be enough for her to loosen up and for him to take responsibility.

Stranded With The Tycoon is an entertaining romance with two engaging polar opposite protagonists and strong polar opposite supporting families (her flighty; his responsible). Readers will enjoy Sophie Pembroke delightful contemporary as love nukes what Ben and Luce respectively believed a relationship should be.

Great Romance Novel 29 Sept. 2013
By K. Nolting - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Stranded With The Tycoon is fine for the author's first novel. The hero and heroine's story takes a while to unfold. An enjoyable read because the background characters and family members are fleshed out well.
