Product Description

Warning - this book may cause you too cry, laugh, and be left bewildered!

One man's quest to get back at the bookies - Ladbrokes. A true story of local man Keith Hughan, who has famously fought an ongoing battle with Ladbrokes the bookmakers, over a bet placed in 1994, which he claims legitimately won him £260,000, and which Ladbrokes refuse to pay.

A lot of events took place while Ladbrokes refused to pay out , windows got smashed, a streak at Goodwood and so much more.

Keith's best mate at the time was a sledgehammer, and on his final mission, the pair of them turned a betting shop looking like a property in Beirut!

Now sit in your favourite chair with the biscuit tin and immerse yourself in this humorous, sad but true story about Ladbrokes

The author of this book is no Crichton, King or even Dickens, for these are all arguably fiction writers of the finest calibre. This man is merely telling a true story about his terrible experiences with a well-known High Street bookie. So yes, his prose may not be eloquent, nor his grammar perfect. But what would you do if you won a huge bet and the bookie concerned refused to pay up?

Well, here he relates his own experiences in his everyday "Geezer" style the consequences he suffered for his fight for a pay-out that never came.

We can laugh with him at his attention-seeking-streaking antic at Glorious Goodwood and then sympathise for his time served in prison for his cause, but these are just two of the many ways this man tried to get justice for a fair bet that was never honoured.

Read his book and judge for yourselves. And remember, the bookies were founded on a so-called "Gentleman's Agreement". I can see no such honourable agreement in these pages.

Shame on them...

I read this book on a recomendation, and glad I did.
Firstly and foremostly, there are too many bullies out there, and this book covers one mans plight and fight against them.
You have to be a very brave and determined man to put up with what Keith Hughan put up with.
The sheer audacity of (Lad*rooks) to bully and fob the punter off astounds me.
This book is written with a rare form of wit and desperation that I have not experienced before.
Its very clear to see that Keith is a loveable rogue but true to his heart, it has put me off betting for life.
This is a sad, funny energetic book which you will find hard to put down.
I read this book in two sittings, which is very rare for me.
Even though this book is not supposed to be a comedy, I was grinning hours after completing it.
Thanks Keith for making me feel sad and happy at the same time.
Would highly recomend.
P.S. Does anyone know if Keith Hughan has written any more books.

I do love a true story, non fiction draws me in deeper to the book I am reading. And this book sure did! I read it in a day as I could not put it down.

One man against the big boys, Ladbrokes. Dont go thinking this book is about horse racing, some but mostly about one mans plight at getting back at the bookies.

Revenge comes in many forms, this is where I laughed the most, and felt sad at the same time. A spell in prison came from his what he called, 'Custards Last Stand.'

This book is so intriguing, how many men on this planet would have done what he did? Keith Hughan - I salute you. Thanks for sharing something that was personal.

This is without a doubt, one of the best reads I have had for a long time! I still chuckle to myself over this book.

Get it, you wont regret it!
