This relativley short book on such a vast subject is packed with ideas and and is very inspiring even for the learned storyteller. Nancy Mellon really knows her subject and shares it generously in this book

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Joao Pedro Martins on 13 Mar. 2010
Format: Paperback
This book thoroughly disappointed me. It reads like a storytelling-self-help book, with sentences such as "Each of this short, evocative essays in this book and the examples that accompany them are gentle tickles to encourage you [..] to go forward in joy and wonder toward a life full of love and the wise use of power"...

The different chapters are titled "Storyscapes" (ex: "Mountains", "Pools, Lakes and the Inland Seas"), "Journeying through the elements" (ex: "Flaming Hollow: Burning Sea", "Trials by Air", ...), "Seasons and Moods" (ex: "Story Seasons"), "Story Characters" (ex: "Good mothers") and "Power and Protection" (ex: "Shoes and crowns").

Personally, I was looking for books that teach storytelling. This is not it, in my opinion.
