Amazon Review

Age 3 and over

. The Little Mole Who Knew it Was None of His Business is, quite simply, one of the funniest books you are ever likely to read (as long as you are not easily offended, that is!), with its unusual take on a natural bodily function combined with a simple tale of nature and discovery.

When the little mole of the title discovers a pile of, well, pooh, on his head, he is absolutely certain that it doesn't belong to him, but sets out on a mission to discover who exactly the culprit really is. His investigation takes him into the world of many animals, as he wanders and compares the pile on his head to the piles that animals leave behind them.

Outrageously funny, this cracking little book is an absolute delight and not only gives children the chance to talk about one of their favourite topics for discussion, but is also an intriguing way of introducing the idea of a nature trail, taking them on a trip that will leave them both laughing and learning.

Perfect for children,of course, but if you are stuck for gift ideas for the adults in your life you may need to look no further. --Susan Harrison --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I ordered this hardback edition as I read to groups of children and wanted something a bit sturdy. The hardback is sturdy enough ..... it is just very small about 6 inch by 4 inch. This is no good for groups who need to see the pictures as well. My suggestion is to buy the paperback as this is very big and you can see good pictures of poo!

Kids love this book! It is short, funny and has some good pictures. 5 stars for content. 0 stars for hardback size that was not described in the advert.

I first saw this book as a childless person while browsing for a gift for a friend's child. I pointed it out to my husband and we both agreed it was gross and no way if we ever had a child would we be buying this!
Then we had our son and received it as a gift. It sat on the bookshelf for two years because I was too embarrassed to give it away to a charity shop.
Then came potty training and my son developed a HUGE fear of pooing on the potty. Poo became a distressing issue for him.
One day I returned from a trip to the shops to find a happy, smiley toddler and an equally happy smiley Daddy who'd finally discovered the merits of the funny and gross little book about poo. It didn't cure our son overnight but very quickly poo had become something funny and therefore not scary any more.
To the lady who thought she might be missing something...you are; you're missing a potty training toddler with a fear of the world dropping out of their bottom! Once your little one begins to potty train it might all make a lot more sense. This is from someone who never thought her first review on Amazon would be on a disgusting little book aout poo.

Because kids like poo. I'm sorry to be crass about it, but it's true. Children are at the stage when they are exploring the world and everything in it, and things that are disgusting to adults are particularly fascinating (especially to boys). I've read this to my class and it's sparked many fun discussions and loads of laughter, and they've asked for it again and again.

I bought this book for my class of 4 year olds and it has since become their favourite book. The children are fascinated by the little mole's journey through the book, comparing the poo on his head with theirs.
Reading the book with the children sparked an impromptu discussion about other types of poo. They were also very interested in what each animal ate to make their poo look the way it did. There was also plenty of discusson about they would do if it happened to them.
I have had visits from many parents thanking me for introducing the book to them...
A brilliant book, one which I have since received as a Christmas present and enjoyed thoroughly.

My daughter and i laughed aloud while reading this book together, she even took it into school for the teacher to read to the class, they loved it to. I have told so many friends to buy this book, its well worth it for the time spent laughing with your children.

This is great. I am a childcare profesional and I bought this book for my nephew after seeing it at an exhibition. His Dad loves it too! Yes, the story line is a touch disgusting but most children love that. Also all my friends read it before I gave it away and they were so taken with it some have bought it for themselves...and these guys are graduates! If you're looking for educational go elsewhere, if you're easily offended then look elsewhere. If you want a laugh with your kids then this is the book for you

One of the funniest children's books ever written.
If you have a child aged 2 - 92 and they have a sense of humour (or you'd like them to develop one) then buy this book!!
How the illustrator manages to put so much expression into such a seemingly simply-drawn character beats me.
Naughty yet nice.
The mole is fab, long live the mole.

I love this book. Er... and so does my daughter. The irreverance is just brilliant.

What's great is getting an unsuspecting Uncle or Aunt to read it to her... they are shocked and amused. It's 2003... books don't need to be po-faced. This book is a lot of fun. But if your spouse is a prude - stay away from it - you could end deep in doo.

UPDATE: I originally wrote this review back in 2003. Now, in 2006, I still feel the same about this book and I have another road-tester (a son, now) who also loves it. My daughter, now reading far more complicated books on her own, still likes to come back to this one from time to time and (with the excuse of reading it to her brother) enjoys is immensely. This has to be a modern classic.
