This graphic novel is a very good introduction to the spy novels. It was purchased for an eight year old who enjoyed it. The subject matter would make it unsuitable for younger readers but it would be a very good purchase for an older boy who is a reluctant reader.

This is an excellently produced, graphic novel version of the first Alex Rider book, which I purchased for my eight year old son. Although he is a good reader, he is often reluctant to try slightly longer books. This, then, is a great way to introduce those slightly reluctant readers to books which will capture their imagination and, hopefully, lead on to reading more for enjoyment. Reading, in whatever format, is what you are aiming for - so don't see these as a poor relation to 'real' novels. This is an excellently produced, exciting novel, with great illustations and the text is less daunting than a long book, but still captures the storyline and characters well. My son really enjoyed this and is asking for the next in the series so he can discover what happens to Alex on further adventures.

I purchased this book for a 12 yr old boy who enjoys stories but doesn't like books in the usual format! The graphic novel was an ideal choice and went down extremely well.

bought for a 10-year old boy who is not an avid reader. Very pleased as he thoroughly enjoyed it and is interested in reading the others in the series.
