like water 23 Sept. 1998

it rolls along like water the drumming in raindrops and torrents and the sqeaky dancing of guitar and bass so extraordinary these are the sounds i have dreamt of listen and each time is different the things are between the sounds, it's the silences that keep your innards coursing beautiful
hmm 26 May 2005

As a longtime Don Cab fan, I knew what I was getting into, to some degree. One thing I wasn't expecting, though, was Ian Williams' voice. Imagine a meeting point between J Mascis and Mark Kozelek, with hints of Will Oldham's gorgeous lilt, and twice the range of all parties involved. Just incredible.

The music is the aural equivalent of those 3D images that were popular a few years back. At any given moment, you're only hearing a sliver of the song's components, essentially meaningless without context. But by the time the track is over, you feel like you've heard a complete piece. This is a very odd feeling. Great stuff.
Chaos and Structure 3 May 1999
By gresehov@email.unc.edu - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
To listen to this record is to listen to the sound of someone trying to carve an indelible mark on the world, before it gets eroded by the seemingly chaotic forces of time and the elements. To hear is to appreciate the desire to live and create despite (or perhaps because of) the transient nature of human existence.
It rocks hard, as well.
groundbreaking (to say the least).. 5 April 2003

this is one crazy mess of a masterpiece, and i love every minute of it. imagine the sporadicity (is that a word?) of don caballero, minus almost any sense of rhythm or key, and there you have it. definitely one of the most unusual albums i own

with nothing else to be said, your art is abstract. To see these guys do it live is even more amazing
