Product Description

In A Storm Of Scandal

Poppy lost her heart - and her reputation - to the dangerously suave Luca Ranieri. Only to be crushed by a whirlwind of scandal when aristocratic Luca chose duty over desire.

Now Poppy finds herself stranded in her grandmother's castle by a violent storm - captive with none other than the deliciously dishevelled Luca.

For three days the tempest rages, and Poppy loses her heart to Luca all over again. But with reality comes the media frenzy. And this time the price of scandal means Luca can't just walk away...

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.. 21 Feb 2012

********************SPOILERS**************
Luca and Poppy first fell in love when she was eighteen and he was twenty three, their grandmothers were friends. But Poppy's grandmother had warned Luca not to break Poppy's heart. They planned to be together forever, but we're taking things slow, there had been no promise of a commitment. Between them, but there was an unspoken understanding.
Then Lucas's father sprang a bombshell on him, and Luca was forced to marry Aurelia, the daughter of a rich family, that was closely connected to his own. But in the process he had broken Poppy's heart.
Seven years later they are trapped for a few days in the castle that Poppy's grandmother owns, due to a bad storm. Passion flares between them which they are powerless to resist.
This was one of those stories that you read where you find yourself grinding your teeth in irritation. Because it sure aggravated the hell out of me. In the prologue of this book, I was annoyed that the reader did not get the scene between the h/h where Luca broke off the relationship, that was pivotal IMO but was left out, and why was he able over the years to continue with his visits to Poppy's grandmother, she was also his godmother, when he had treated Poppy in such a cavalier fashion. Was granny not annoyed with him, she was very protective of Poppy. That was unrealistic. Then there was the woman he had married, they knew one another, but had never dated. Did she not question why she was to marry him? But then we find out that she was mentally unstable, even being sectioned on one occasion, as the families were so close how come Lucas's family were unaware of this. Or was he more like Edward Rochester being duped into marrying Bella Mason, only to find out later that she was mad. Luca felt guilty that Aurelia had commited suicide, as he had never been around much during the marriage. So how did she have all those multiple pregnancies then? Which ended in miscarriages, that eventually pushed her over the edge. Then when the story moves to the present day, seven years on Poppy has not been in Lucas's presence for more than a few hours and she jumps into bed with him, oh by the way she's still a virgin, having never got over him. He then suggests to her a sex only relationship, that is to be strictly secret. Horrible characters and a ridiculous plot.

Forever love. 19 Dec 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is Luca and Poppy's story, and it was a story well written, i couldn't put it down.
When they were at Uni they declared their love for each other and wanted to marry when they could.
The problem was Luca was from a very rich family who wanted a marriage of convience, at first Luca said no way, but then he was told by his Father he had no choice as he had got into a lot of debt.
Luca had to tell Poppy they could not be to-gether anymore but not the reason why, you can imagine how Poppy felt, they were not lovers as Poppy wanted to wait until they were married.
A few years down the line Poppy's grand mother's castle was needing repairs to it and Poppy wanted to help. The weather turned foul and the castle had no power, Luca hired a boat and it sunk and he just managed to save himself Luca wanted to help Poppys grand-ma as she was a very old friend of his Mother.
Luca arrived at the castle and it was a soul searching time for them both, Luca was a widower and he blamed himself for his wifes death because he didn't love her, he only ever loved Poppy, as Poppy still loved Luca.
They made love and Poppy was a virgin, they did have their HEA which was lovely, i am going to leave it here but it brought tears to me a lovely story i thought and i will read it again soon.

Not enjoyable! 20 Jan 2012
By Maya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I am usually a fan of Kim Lawrence books. Her heroines tends to be spirited and her books full of humor. This one however, was just plain stupid! An unlikable hero and a spineless heroine. As the previous reviewer mentioned, he chose money over love, then once married, he kept getting his mentally unstable wife pregnant over and over again even though it was dangerous since she was unable to carry her pregnancies to full-term. His wife eventually commits suicide. And all the heroine who he dumped could think of throughout the book when they meet up again was how hot he was and how much she wanted him! And she literally jumps into bed with him as soon as she finds out he's no longer married. Where's her pride? And did I mention she remained a virgin all these years later but yet at the drop of a hat surrenders her virginity to him? Did I say stupid?

does not deserve one star 2 Jan 2012

What happened to the author? She was one of my favorite. This book was the worst of all. I can not believe it was written by her. The heroine is a pathetic loser. She does not have any pride and self respect. Heroine like her makes you believe the guy can do whatever he wants and she will let him walk all over her. The hero not only choose money over her, he did not love her. Even after his wife's death he told her he will not love and will not offer her anything permanent. The heroine was OK with and told him she loved him. The heroine does not have enough self respect for giving the hero a hard time. At the end she told him to choose what he wants and told him she will not wait for him. No matter how he treats her she always wanted to hug him and always pleading to him. That bother me the most, the way she pleads with him to give her a chance. He does not want her or love her.

I read the reviews before i read this book. I found what the two previous reviewers said to be false. It was a really good romance book. It is also told in his view so you understand the decisions he made. I think this book should be given a chance.
