What an album! An avalanche of pummelling guitars and beats, and the subtleties of keyboards and melodies in one. A naturally Black Metal affair, with some nice Death touches, Dissection have sadly faded away, although some remain in the new band Soulreaper. This is their best album, and the long black metal songs helped define a whole genre.
The whole lot is excellent, songs and riffing. The vocals set the differences between death and black metal, but these things are always vague. The 2 instrumentals, at the beginnig and the end, frame the album nicely, and the songs within do not drone on, although some are around 7 or 8 minutes long.
Any fan of Black metal should get a copy of this!!
