Erasure "Tomorrow's World"

Biography

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly… Read more in Amazon's Erasure Store

Fantastic Remixes 4 Oct 2007
Format:Audio CD
I got this cd today. Remixes taken from 'Light At The End Of The World' album. Excellent remixes from a fantastic new album. What more can i say. If you haven't purchased this album plus the 'Storm Chaser EP' then do it now. I saw Erasure in concert performing these new songs and classic hits twice in September on 'The Light Of The End Of The World Tour. Brilliant performance and Andy's voice was perfect as always. Let's get rid of all this trashy chart music and put Erasure on top of the charts where they belong!

With a track featuring Cyndi Lauper - worth the purchase price alone. As what you'd expect to get from Erasure - an EP with a mix of soft haunting ballads and poppy electro dance music. For die hard fans of Erasure - or Cyndi Lauper!

Not since "Rain Plus" have Erasure/Mute offered us such a bargain, a mini-album for not much more than a CD single price. "Storm In A Teacup" is not one of my favourite tracks from "Light...", to be frank, as the Mummy lyric makes me cringe a bit (he doesn't repeat it with Daddy, but refers to Father, interestingly). However the child-like slant may be very deliberate, and it is a reasonable tune that gets a few revamps here to suit most tastes. Track 7, the Extended Mix, is probably the most satisfying of these. "Early Bird" is quite a nice duet with Cyndi Lauper, albeit fairly short, and should appeal to fans of both artists. The remixes of "Sucker For Love" are both enjoyable too, but the highlight is the trippy closing mix of "Angel" (Glass Angel). Beautifully done, and rounds off a fairly stong package. If you liked the album, you'll want this EP (and probably have it already). If you felt "Light.." sounded a bit twee at times (certainly after the excellent "Nightbird") then this EP mixes more of the same with more contemporary sounding guest remixes - but don't expect a club-stomping EP, this is far more subtle. Well worth a listen!
