About the Author

Dr Vijay Vad is a sports-medicine specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery and a professor at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is the author of Back Rx and Arthritis Rx. In 2007, he created the Vad Foundation, dedicated to two causes: supporting medical research into back pain and arthritis and funding education for disadvantaged girls worldwide. He co-founded The Inflasoothe Group in 2008. Dr Vad lives in New York City with his family.

I highly recommend this book for many reasons. It depicts a holistic approach to pain management as well as a detailed approach to tackling your specific issues. I found the section on linking inflammation and other factors that increase pain particularly helpful. Most occupations have an underlying or associated health issues. Regardless of they type of pain you are experiencing, you will find relief via the various techniques and protocols described in this book. I and others were able to stop the pain which was occurring over the past many years. The book and its strategies are essential for healthy living. I believe pain has many components and incorporating alternative and conventional methods are the key for pain free living. Highly Recommended!!

Finally a book that is straightforward, honest and practical. I have read tons of books on extensive chronic pain and I have never recommended one before "Stop Pain." All of the other books on the market are not written for regular people like me who just want to live their lives pain free. The usual approach to books like this alienates the reader and makes the treatment seem impossible to achieve on your own. Dr. Vad changes all of that in his innovative approach to taking care of yourself. He takes the best of eastern medicine and the best of western medicine and forms a very happy marriage of the two. This book is for all of the people out there who believe that they have to live their lives in pain and misery everyday. To all of the nonbelievers this is a must read! With just a few simple steps Dr. Vads "Stop Pain" has shown me how to get my life back.

This book is by far the most holistic approach which is to pull you off the the cycle of pain medications. All of western medicine believes in more pills and Dr. Vad gave me a chance to reduce my pain and to live pain free without the pills. While most books focus only on the mechanics (like postures) or on restricted diets, etc. Dr. Vad's book presents a complementary, multi-pronged approach to combatting one's pain everyday. I follow the exercises, I've adjusted my diet, and immediately I began to see results. So much of the "science" out there is not comprehensive. Dr. Vad's book has changed the way I live and the way I feel--better every day.

Other than a few anecdotal patient cases, the book has no new information. It also does not serve as a self-help book that one can use to "stop pain" in spite of the title. At times the book comes as an advertisement for the author's practice. I am sure the author, Dr. Vad is a great doctor for stopping pain when you visit him in person. But the book is really a waste of time. Don't buy it.
