Review
Lieutenant Peter Decker of the LA police has a disturbing call from Rabbi Jonathan Levine, Decker's recently discovered half brother. There has been a murder in Jonathan's family; his brother-in-law, a Hassidic Jew and former drug addict, has been found naked in a seedy Manhattan hotel, a gunshot wound to his head. And his niece, 15-year-old Shaynda, is missing. Called on to help his new-found relatives through this terrifying time, Decker journeys to New York to track down the missing girl. He finds himself in an alien city and a maze of deceit, on a journey that takes him from the slums of New Jersey to the hidden meeting places of Hassidic outcasts. This is Kellerman at her sharpest, building on the breakthrough of her highly successful The Forgotten.
