Any Chief Inspector Woodend book will get at least three stars from me, it's just really a case of whether a particular book gets an "A" grade or and "A Star"! Sally Spencer's book Stone Killer is good quality police procedural and is an entertaining read. You start caring about the characters immediately; you even like the criminals involved which is unusual. Its fast pace with lively dialogue keeps you turning the pages. I read this one in a single sitting, but then I'm a quick reader. All detective fiction, or real life for than matter, relies on MOM motive opportunity and means. If there is any criticism of Stone Killer, I'd say the motive is a little weak, also what I think is the fault of a sub-editor there is what seems to be an unfortunate error at the beginning of Chapter One, Port-Said, would make better sense that port-side. Ignore my carping, it really is an excellent book, well plotted and enjoyable.
