For those of you who want to see smoke coming out of your speakers, ears, headphones... whatever... be afraid.. be very afraid :) Stone Crazy is guaranteed to cause eruptions in the souls of electric blues guitar lovers the world over! Buddy's solos and overall performance are the best I've ever heard him cut in the studio alongside A Man And The Blues. The difference with his solos on this album is that they are way more aggressive and longer... His guitar tone is blisteringly sharp and there ain't too much reverb neither... The album was cut in France in 1980 while Buddy was touring (with his brother, Phil, on rhythm guitar). You can clearly hear and feel that these musicians had been playing (the album tracks) together for quite some time and had gelled as a veritable force of nature. Why is this album still hidden away as some sort of blues secret??? A Mystery To Me!!

This is without doubt the best thing Buddy Guy has ever done. Forget about the debate about him being a Bluesman , Rockman , Soulman...It just does'nt matter because this is what he was born to do. The guitar solos on this album are some of the best I have ever heard. Real gut wrenching stuff!!!

This and Sweet Tea, the best examples of Buddy Guy at his smokin hot soloing wonderful best. Just sublime!

This is coming from a fan of Guy who generally thinks the less band there is the better, I much prefer his records that leave him to it then the ones like "Damn right I got the blues" that seem, to me, to be overly backnig him up. Just let him rip and he's great!
