Product Description

Five years ago, six-year-old Daniel Linwood vanished without a trace. Today he came back. It's a blessing for both Daniel's family and their community. And I've got the exclusive interview. But it turns out he's just one of a string of abducted children who have mysteriously returned to their families - with no memory of their lost years. To get the story, I need the help of the one woman who owes me nothing - and I've got to find answers before more lives are snatched away.

I have been struggling with this book for the past 2 weeks (and I usually read at least a book a week) and am still only about two thirds of the way through so I logged on here to see if I was the only person who seemed to have a problem with it, only to find that the single other review on here echoed my sentiments exactly. Now that I know that I won't get any surprises if I read on (which I guessed) I am going to pack it in and read the new Jeff Abbott or Karin Slaughter which are also in my reading pile and which, I very much suspect, I will enjoy a lot more. I am not an intolerant reader but this book is full of cliches and the characters are completely two dimensional. I bought it because it was recommended by a flyer in Waterstones - shame on them! Give it a miss.

Jason Pinter - Stolen 21 April 2010
Format:Paperback
Whilst I think Stolen was well written and I did want to finish it, the ending and explanation was very disappointing and trite and not at all believable. I read a lot of thrillers and had actually starred "The Mark" as being a really good book and couldn't wait to read another one by Jason Pinter, but Stolen was not half as good. Too many silly things happened and the shootings of various characters were not warranted in my opinion and I cannot imagine any mother on earth letting her child be taken away it just does not ring true. Hope his next books are better as I shall certainly continue reading them just to see.

In common with the other reviewers, I found this deeply disappointing. I decided by page 100 that I knew what was going on and "whodunnit". It's nice to be right but I would have preferred to find myself totally bemused until the last few pages - which is what happens with Harlan Coben's good books (from which I exclude the Myron Bolitar series which are little better than this book under review here).
