Just A Short Tale 7 May 2011
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a quick short read by Brian McGilloway, and the first two chapters of his novel, Little Girl Lost. The Stolen Child is about a couple who have had a miscarriage. The wife, Karen keeps hearing a baby crying on the child monitor, so her husband calls the police after walking the road, to see if the monitor is picking up cries from another household. Where he believes the cries are coming from seems to be incorrect, as the house is owned by a single man.

Ultimately he has no option but to investigate himself. This starts out as a psychological novel, and then by the end turns into more of straight crime novel. Ideal reading over a cup of tea.

Hadn't realised this was a short story when I downloaded it - but in the end I was very glad I did. Go for it!

Excellent short story 12 Sep 2011
By E. WOOLSTON TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Never fully recovered from the death of their baby, Karen spends her days huddled over a baby monitor listening in vain for her son's cry. Then the unthinkable happens, she hears that cry! Michael her husband is deeply concerned for her sanity until he hears it too. This may be short, so you may feel disappointed if you were expecting a novel but it is perfectly formed with tension, bright characterisation and a neat little twist.

This is a virtuoso display of the writer's skill to tempt you to buy his novel and if this story is anything to go by, it has done its job as far as I'm concerned.

Short!!
I knew it was going to be short but not that short! would'nt mind but the story was very poor as it was so even that did'nt make up for it being so short a story!

Strange
Short story quite strange and left me feeling a bit disturbed. Not something I would normally read but it was free so I thought I would give it a go.

Short Tale
As per previous reviews - this is a very short read indeed. REally not worth bothering with. The story was also predictable - two mins in and I had guessed the outcome.

Stolen Child
I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though it was very short. I hope he writes a longer one next time. I certainly will look out for more books by Brian McGilloway.

CHAPTER 1 There was definitely something moving between the trees. Hed been aware of it for a few moments now, a flitting movement hed catch in the corner of his eye, weaving through the black tree trunks set vertical against the snow. At first he had dismissed it as the result of snow hypnosis from staring too long through the windscreen into the unrelenting downdraught of snowflakes. "e;
