Product Description

Marian Deacon has always been overshadowed by her cousin Madeleine, a glamorous, selfish model who will stop at nothing to reach the top. But their lives suddenly change with the arrival of Paul O'Connell, a charismatic writer who draws them into the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Hastings and the glamour and danger of her life in Italy and New York. Compelling and dramatic, this is a tale of what happens when girls become women, and when love gets in the way.

Having read the later attempts by Susan Lewis such as 'Silent Truths' and 'Strange Allure' and thoroughly enjoying them I decided to read 'Stolen Beginnings' as I was intrigued as to whether Lewis' earlier novels were as good as her later ones. 'Stolen Beginnings' didn't disappoint at all. The main charcters Madeline, Marion and Paul are very strong charcters who are all beautifully written about, the setting was fantastic, everything about the book was in fact wonderful. The plot also is top quality. The plot features around the lives of very different cousins Marian, who is an university graduate in a dead end job and Madeline the strip o gram who are living in a not so nice flat in Bristol. The plot gets going when the one man who Madeline hasn't yet 'had' goes to their flat for a party and falls in love with the painfully shy Marian instead of the glamorous Madeline. The plot proceeds from this point onwards... This a brilliant effort by Susan Lewis who manages to get everything what a reader can ever want in a story, love, passion, jealousy, deciet, passion and most of all intigue. Must have for Susan lewis fans!

Just read this book again for the 2nd time and have now loaned it to my sons partner. It is simply the best of all Susan Lewis's books. I live in Bristol and actually went to junior school with her, if you want to know about her early life read Just One More Day and I defy you not to cry. Cant wait for her next book.
