Good to see a compact disc version of this 25 year old album (orginally realeased on Tara Records in 1978.) Fiddle, bodhran and effective use of Jew's harp, banjo, flute, and guitar combine to produce excellent Irish traditional music played creatively and expertly. These guys are all-Ireland winners on their instruments and put together fine arrangements of a great selection of tunes. I'm not one for much singing, but two of the songs in this set (Bold Donnelly and Pleasant and Delightful) are standouts among a strong bunch of instrumental tunes. It's fun to hear Maurice Lennon on fiddle, along with the rest of the band, play a Mazurka written by his uncle, titled "Charlie Lennon's". These guys were contemporaries of the legendary Bothy Band and created a band that became a legend itself. Of course, the individuals in the band are legends, too. For example, Maurice Lennon was featured in the band line-up in the Dublin stage show, Ragus, which is still going strong. 25 years later he is still ripping through reels and jigs.
