Considering that this was published in late 2007, it was so out of date and inaccurate. The symbols on the maps were incorrect in a couple of places, the layout of the book was extremely frustrating and it was more of a stress to keep remembering pages and reverting back for more information. There was next to nothing on accommodation and most restaurants for the evening were high end of the price range. I thought Lonely Planet would point to more affordable places to choose from.
It did, however, make the weekend lots of fun guessing what useless 'delights' we would find in the book day by day!
I have always bought Lonely Planet guide books in the past but having been put off by this one, am not so sure!

I've been to Stockholm six times (at the last count), and recognise nothing of the city in this pretentious, bling-ridden book.
If you're looking for a guide-book, forget this. It seems more concerned with extolling trendy shops and cool eateries, with little for the honest tourist.
I wish I hadn't bought it. I'll go back to my trusty Berlitz travel-guide, and view Lonely Planet with suspicion from now on (and didn't I read somewhere that their writers have not always been to the places in question?).

Once again Lonely Planet lived up to expectations. This book is well laid out and packed with so much information. It was easy to use - and to carry around with you.

I am always skeptical about buying guides for cities and countries. I decided to buy this guide on name alone as I had heard of Lonely Planet a couple of times. Read more
