About the Author

In 1984, Gooseberry Patch cofounders Vickie and JoAnn were next-door neighbours, two mums with small children looking for a way to do what they loved: home cooking and making memories with family and friends, and stay home with the kids too. After many conversations over the backyard fence, Gooseberry Patch was born. They put together their first catalogue at their kitchen tables and from that very first mailing found an immediate connection with many of their customers. It wasn't long before they began receiving letters, photos and recipes from their new friends. In 1992, they put together their very first cookbook compiled from hundreds of those recipes and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, Gooseberry Patch is best known for their home-style, family-friendly cookbooks, now recognised as national bestsellers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 9 July 2013
By Bonnie - Published on Amazon.com

I am a big fan of Gooseberry Patch products. Looked forward to receiving this book. The projects seem outdated. Mug and toaster cozies and a very odd teapot cover are included. The plastic bag dispenser and sweater sleeve wine bottle cover have been all over the internet for years. I did like the vintage napkin tablecloth. I hoping this year's Christmas book will be up to their standards.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cute Collection 27 July 2013
By Amalia Johanson - Published on Amazon.com
Stitching for the Kitchen is a cute collection of projects with contemporary country charm. Although I've seen projects similar in idea to many of those included, Gooseberry Patch has done a nice job of putting a sweet spin on them and making old new again.

The items range in complexity from adding embroidery to napkins to crocheting a rug to sewing covers for a tea pot or casserole dish. I thought that many of the projects would make really lovely hostess or "welcome to the neighborhood!" gifts. Everything is very cheery, and I'm happy to own this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute book 4 Mar 2014

This book is very cute, but a lot of the projects I have already seen in other books that I own. There was really only one project that I really want to make and that is totally new to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE it!! Couldn't give it away! 17 Aug 2013

I initially ordered this book for a friend. But when I received it I was so excited with many of the projects, I decided I just had to keep it for myself! Of course I will share it with her.... There is such a variety of ideas...something for everyone. Some of the projects are simple and others are more challenging, but all the directions and patterns are very clear and easy to understand. I am quite sure I will be making almost all of these projects. And what great gift ideas! Can't wait to get started with them. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Projects! 31 July 2013
By GoofyMamma - Published on Amazon.com
Whenever I get a project book I don't ever go into it thinking that every project is going to appeal to me because we are all different. But this has enough diversity that I'm pretty sure there will be something for every one. I had a good time making my project and have a few more in line.
This book is also just fun to look at with all the classic Gooseberry Patch graphics and all. Did I mention there are even recipes sprinkled throughout? Awesome huh?
Well I think you can pretty much judge for yourself with the "look inside" option whether or not it's for you.
