Building on the success of Volume 1, this breathtaking book takes us on a journey through knitting pattern history from 1930 to 1959. This substantial treasury contains 80 stunning, classic patterns for women, carefully chosen to offer the knitter the best of design from each period, alongside a thoughtfully balanced selection of projects; from beginner to advanced; cardigans to sweaters; dresses to hats; stocking stitch to cable and from fair isle to lace. With the patterns chronologically arranged the book also acts as a historical insight into this golden age of knitwear design. Both the original and a re-written, updated and multi-sized adaption of each pattern is included, with beautiful full colour images, authentically styled and photographed. Additional information explaining vintage fit and finishing techniques complete this inspiring publication. This truly amazing book is for all knitters, young and old, and of all abilities. It affords the opportunity not just to knit, but to knit a piece of the past and create an heirloom of the future.

Stunning 8 Nov 2011
By PatMS
Format:Hardcover
A quite amazing collection of patterns from 1930-1959, which provides the original pattern along with a rewritten version graded for many more sizes then you got in the days when a 36" bust was a Large. The old patterns are reproduced faithfully, with the smudges and wear to the corners, which gives a splendidly historic feel to those pages, but the instructions are all there (and often much clearer) in the rewritten version beside them. The garments are beautifully styled and photographed, in fact the book is worth it as a style collection alone even if you don;t knit from it, and I don't know which pattern to knit first.

A terrific successor to Stitch in Time Vol 1.

Format:Hardcover
Another wonderful collection of vintage knitting patterns, this time from 1930 to 1959. They are reproduced faithfully with warts & all, along with an updated version of the pattern with a greater range of sizes, modern terminology & using current yarns. The photographs are beautifully styled, clearly showing the garments to great advantage. There is also a section on fit & finish which contains essential techniques for getting the look just right. It will keep my knitting needles busy for many months to come.
