Book Description

21 Jun 2012

Still Single should be a marital status all of its own.

Single girls today are smarter, stronger and funnier, and journalist Alison Taylor is the witty voice for this new generation who are looking for ‘the one’ but not willing to undergo a personality lobotomy in the process.

Covering twelve months in the life of one ever-hopeful (but never desperate) romantic, The Still Single Papers charts what happens before a date, during a date and when there are no dates. Hanging out at music festivals, bars and various capital cities, we join the self-styled ‘lovefool’ and friends on her quest for fun, romance and someone to care about.

On her travels, Alison asks the tough questions, like: what does that text really mean? Did you shave that yourself? Are you f***ing kidding me?

The Still Single Papers will ring true with a whole generation of cool, educated and ambitious women who can’t quite believe that there are so few fit, single straight guys out there. But that doesn’t stop them from looking and hoping, and hoping and looking . . .

What a fun, real and fantastic book! I read this book over two days on my holiday and could not put it down! A seriously enjoyable read with many `I can relate to that!' moments and it made me laugh out loud a number of times! Very funny and very readable! I felt a little lost when it was finished and I'm already looking forward to the next book by this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars An antidote to the usual chick-lit schmalz! 4 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an intelligently written and refreshingly honest portrayal of single life for professional women in their 30s! More than just your average slushy romance novel, this book centres around the themes of family and friendship and is very, very funny. I'm getting this for all my single friends for Christmas! Keep writing Alison - please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever, very, very funny, but also much more. 7 Nov 2012
Format:Paperback
Alison Taylor has written a masterpiece with her debut publication. There are few people who can write a book where just about every page will have you laughing to yourself, often out loud. Yet this book is also much more than humour; it's an honest, heart-on-the -sleeve analysis of the quest for love in the third millennium. This is a romantic novel, an academic paper and a comedy.
Alison Taylor is a mix of Sue Townsend, Woody Allen, Ricky Gervais and Charlotte Bronte. This book is brilliant. Don't hesitate. Buy it now.
