Have bought expensive DVDs on this topic - but this 300+ page text and excellent DVD surpass everything:)Co-written by a number of experts in different fields : this multiple perspective fills in knowledge gaps. Authors have varying degrees of previous stills photography experience. Specific video tutorials (on included DVD) are in-depth, clearly explained and can be followed point-by-point as in a classroom. A good example is the time-lapse tutorial explaining time-lapse post production/creation in Adobe After Effects. There seems to be no bias towards specific manufacturers : all main brands are presented. Has informed almost all my buying decisions to good effect. Text is clear and succinct with many explanatory photographs. There are no theoretical ramblings - just enough background theory to underpin practice. Interview summaries with stills photographers who have transitioned to dslr video emphasise important points. Don't scan read: go from start to finish and try relevant DVD tutorials. Highly recommended.

Comprehensive and clear book.,

This book provides a comprehensive guide to shooting with video on your DSLR, as being new to this , but very familiar with shooting digital photos, there is a different mindset and technical data needed to do the same when filming , it is not just as simple as pressing the film button and off you go, so I would highly recommend this book, as it has helped me in making the transition, and although there are new technical matters to learn , it does not baffle the reader but explains them clearly, so until I am fully versed in all matters of filming , this book stays in my bag.

If like me you are making the move from stills to video then the title of this book should be the only clue you need as to its target audience!Changing over to video means that a lot of really basics issues need to be learned again from a slightly different angle. This book takes you through all the basics, doesn't assume you have a huge budget to spend and also comes with a DVD packed with stuff. Highly recommended.
