4.0 out of 5 stars Craiglang Redux 28 May 2006
By Ryan Williams VINE VOICE
Still Game has gone from strength to strength as a comedy. This, its third series, is no exception. In fact, it's my favourite among all six. What I like about this one most is the how that other characters in Craiglang have moved to the center stage.

Nowhere is this truer than the first episode, 'Hoaliday.' The way we see Jack and Victor is altered because we see the episode through Jack's daughter as much as through Jack and Victor. It has to be the most moving episode of the series yet. It compares and contrasts Craiglang and Canada (where writer Greg Hemphill, who plays Victor, spent his formative years) with considerable care and humour. See the last scene of the show as The Clansman's regulars pass tacky souvenirs around at The Clansman to see what I'm talking about.

'Swottin' is another series highlight. Here, we see J & V's attempts to learn 'medical proficiency' at Glasgow University (Where Greg Hemphill used to be Rector). Why First Aid, not the legal profession? Jack answers: 'Naw - we'd be deid by then.' The boys discover cheap beer and a pickled boaby, with hilarious resuilts. Meanwhile at The Clansman, Boabby (the man who 'couldnae get his hole in a barrel o' fannies') decides to hold on a quiz night. But he's got his eye on The Clansman's foxy new barmaid...

'Big Yin' sees veteran actor Clive Russell playing Big Innes who, like Shug in series 1, has a larger-than-life ability. The Neds are terrorising Craiglang, and Innes's is summoned to sort them out. Yet this modern-day Samson has a flaw: 'Whatever you do,' his wife warns the boys, 'Don't give him Miduri...' The episode is my choice for the best one of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic comedy. 1 May 2010

I recently forced a friend to watch an episode much against his better judgement but once he tuned into the humour, he was laughing out loud. Great. Another Still Game convert. Personally, I can re-watch episodes and still find them funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Game, still great! 8 April 2014

Still Game, if your browsing wondering to buy this do so. This isn't just a Scottish-centric sitcom. Nor is it Last of the Summer Wine with swearing (and humour and gags if it come to that!). It is so much better than that. This is a funny laugh out loud series with moments too of real emotion that is still wearing well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack and Victor are Back 5 May 2013
This is the third series of Still Game, and it is still as funny and entertaining as ever. At the end of series two both men were off to Canada to visit Jack's daughter and family. Jack had to decide whether to stay or come back to Scotland. But alas for Victor he still has not seen his son for many a year.

Back in Craiglang Jack and Victor get up to mischief along with other residents. Within this series are quite some poignant pieces, what with families living a long way apart, illness, isolation and loneliness. Of course along with this you also have some absolutely great comedy. Winston wants a new tv but is not prepared to pay the prices, and the older residents are having trouble with the youth, along with the troubles of gambling.

Of course, with this you can see bits of yourself or others in the characters, and it does make you ponder what life will be like for yourself when you eventually become a pensioner. Always enjoyable to watch, you end up thinking whilst also having a great laugh.

Why are these series never repeated on tv? Just the kind of humour I like with very little, if any, bad language. Funny and likeable characters. Just great.
