Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Sticks and Stones, the third record from Florida emo-punkers New Found Glory, might wear its broken heart on its sleeve, but that doesn't mean it has to pretend to be mature. No, Blink 182's first choice of support band have a firm grasp of the puerile: Sticks and Stones churns out dumb punk thrills at such a breakneck pace, you'd swear they were going out of fashion. The chugging "It's Been A Summer" does Blink as well as Travis, Mark and Tom do themselves, while "Head On Collision" displays the group's tender emo side, frontman Jordan Pundik smarting at a vicious relationship spat. "It feels like I'm bruised and broken / From our head on collision", he sobs, as guitars crunch and blunder madly in the background. Thing is, although some of the tunes are spot on--particularly, the love-struck "My Friend's Over You" and the moshpit-friendly "Something I Call Personality"--there's little to radically distinguish New Found Glory from their peers. Frankly, if you're a diehard pop-punk fan you've probably got records like this--and better--in your collection already. --Louis Pattison

Brillant Album 21 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
This album is better than there last self titled album New Found Glory which i think was worth 5 stars as well.
All the songs are very good and stand out as classy lyrics.
Plus this UK special edition has 3 extra songs compared to the american version so thats a bonus.
Well worth the money, what are you waiting for go buy it.
My fav tracks where 1 and 2 which where Understatement and My Friends Over You.

At last they are coming back with a fantastic follow up. I love new found glory.

01. Understatement - Heavier than most other NFG stuff but its definitely still punk. Great chorus.

02. My Friends Over You - You've all heard it, you all love it this is the only song i think on the album that sounds like old nfg stuff.

03. Sonny - One of the best on the album, its quite sad, the guitar riff rules.

04. Something I Call Personality - The BEST on the album i must say. Great title great song. It a bit like better off dead on the old album. Very catchy chorus

05. Head on collision Cool lead guitar by Chad, again heavier than other nfg stuff, another Killer on the album, i could imagine blink doing this one.

06. It's been a summer - really heavy guitar riff. Its all in the title its a great song. Typical NFG, its brilliant. A lot like my friends over you.

07. Forget my name - it doesn't sound like Jordan singing at the start, im not sure. Second best on the album, really bouncy a bit sad aswell.

08. Never give up - Cyrus is a brilliant drummer and it is displayed well here. The bass stands out too, another catchy chorus.

09. The great Houdini - I LOVE this one its probably another best one joint with number 04. I hope they release this one after my friends over you. Check this one out.

10. Singled out - sounds like a pop song at the start. Then goes heavier. Its one of the fastest on the album, most of the songs on this album are about girls leaving them and heres another.

11. Bleated - Alot like 'boy crazy' and 'black and blue' off the older album. This one doesn't really stand out though.

This is a brilliant album 'Something i call personality' and 'the great Houdini' are the best. BUY IT!! Check out bands called 'Mest' And 'Good Charlotte' too.

If you are thinking of buying this album then think no more. It is a fine mix of new styles together with the New Found Glory of old. They've broadened their sound to include hardcore-inspired breakdowns and the songs now cover more things than just girls and teenage relationships. Their signature pop-punk sound is still there but it is now mixed with aggressive punk melodies that will make you want to sing along. Take a listen and see if playing "Stick and Stones" can't be fun. The songs are a great combination of clean solid guitar with tight drum rythms which make up their finest album so far. Sticks and Stones" may break your bones... but this record will keep you rockin!!
