4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good 30 Nov. 2010

"You do like your gadgets, don't you?" say my friends, and to be fair, I will give most new gadgets a go but with things as they are right now, it has to be a damn fine, bargain, value for money, working gadget. I was sceptical. Cheap new technology? How does it work? Curiosity whetted. Scepticsm continued after its arrival as I looked at the slightly confusing instructions and wiped down my dashboard in anticipation of having to send this back. But No! Hoorah. It works. My phone sticks and stays put even when clad in it's leather case and negotiating the all too bothersome speed-humps I find all too plentiful in my neighbourhood. Ok so it fell off once, but that's because I slapped it on there in a hurry. Press firmly and away you go. Bloomin' bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than any other car holders... period! 1 Feb. 2011
I'm just going to be blunt here... it works a charm.

Not kidding, I was as ceptical as you are probbably reading this review right now but it literally does what it should!
You just press your phone gently onto the weird stick rubber surface and thats it, it goes nowhere for your whole journey (including speed humps, pot holes etc!)
It does not leave ANY residue or anything of teh sort on your phone and better yet it wont fall off your windscreen or leave any marks on it because it's on your dash!!

Dont usually write reviews but thought I needed to here as it looks like this product is not getting the props it deserves.

Buy this, not a cheap plastic tacky windscreen mounted car holder!!

2.0 out of 5 stars It's ok so long as you don't drive too fast 24 April 2011
By G
It's pretty good but if you drive too fast or go up too steep a hill or around too sharp a corner it will fly off the dashboard. It's also very sticky and will pick up any dirt it comes into contact with on the floor, which means it may need cleaning regularly depending on your driving style!

Interesting divergence of views on this one but I decided to risk it!

I followed the advice regarding ensuring the surfaces were clean and dry but to no avail. The problems I experienced are two-fold. Firstly, while the base rubber mat adhered admirably to the old-fashioned flat-topped dashboard of my classic Jaguar, it just wouldn't stick to the curved dash in my modern Volvo for any longer than five minutes.

Secondly the mounting plate for the phone itself simply didn't work with my Samsung Galaxy - too many times the phone simply toppled into the footwell after a few moments. The backplate on the Galaxy has a fine-grained dimpled effect and I suspect this is the root cause of lack of adhesion.

Overall, then, the unit probably works well against a flat dashboard and flat phone backplate. Otherwise look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different, but simple 24 Jun. 2011

I haven't used this much, but I like it and it works. I take my phone out of it's leather holder because that seems easier with less risk of falling.
One problem I have is where to put the stand. I thought I was lucky to have a large flat area on my dashboard (Previa) but when I put the phone there I can't see it because the steering wheel is in the way or the sun is so bright that the screen is not visible. If I move it to the side i am in danger of obscuring the speedometer and rev counter. I have mounted it right over on the right, but if I want to charge it while driving (probably very important if using navigation) the charger lead won't reach that far.
So, all in all, the stand itself is lovely and I like its quirkiness. But I haven't yet found the ideal way of using it. I'll find it eventually I'm sure!

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate this thing 17 Jun. 2011

I got this for my shiny new Galaxy S 2 phone, and I do not get on with it.

For starters, it failed to stick well to my cars dash board. Having a small horde of children, I drive an MPV and it has acres of dashboard space, just gagging for a bit of kit like this to fill the void. But no, it failed to hold so I didn't even try to drive off with it holding my phone.

The next problem was it didn't seem to want to hold my phone in place securely.

I am not going to recommend this to anyone, it seems far more hassle than I think it is worth. This is my thinking, but I purchased this from the reviews on Amazon and others seem to get on with it.

1 star is harsh, but as I couldn't use it, that's what it gets.

1.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't recommend it 19 Mar. 2012

If you have a dashboard that is completely flat then this might suit but honestly, most cars have a curvature and this is a real tacky, cheap piece of metal with a weird gel thing that makes the phone stick (but not very well)

i constantly found myself battling with it during driving to either get an angle that avoids the sun or one that wont let the phone slip off! As in another review, it is poorly built and really feels out of place in the car, it is so unusual, but i was misled by some other reviews and bought it

Keep your money, you get what you pay for but i would only recommend this if you see it at the pound shop!

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job 25 Mar. 2011

Just received my dashboard mount - 2 days after ordering with standard delivery.

Looks professionally made, and the material certainly is sticky! Sticky enough to pick phone up upside down (with care) so should have no problems sticking when upright. Mount can be angled from 0 to 180 degrees.

My only criticism is that it only sticks to shiny materials, and not so good for use with my rubber skin phone protector. Also, you need to have some space on your dashboard to place it, I have new fiesta and only place for it really is in front of LCD display for the radio.

Still avoids marks on windscreen and folds away nicely.
