Well, its SRV allright! Stevie plays like he allways plays. Every note has to count. The registration is excelent if you want to see a lot of the man and how he plays and sings. Being a guitarist myself I enjoy the detailled registration on how the wizard does his licks. The other band memebers are a bit left behind. So thats not what you should buy this for.

The DVD contains two shows. The difference in how Stevie looks is remarkeble. In the first show he seems nervous and I guess he was using something... In the second show he is relaxed and enjoys himself much more. However, the way he plays is super on both shows.

The strange thing is the audiance. They SIT and listen. As if it were a clasical concert. Stupid! That's what makes this DVD not a concert registration which makes you wish you where there. Also the lack of some significant extra's is a bit of a shame.

However, still 4 stars for this DVD because it features breathtaking guitarplay by the best blues guitarist ever. I borowed this DVD from a friend, viewed it four times and still decided to buy it.

Well what can you really say? The guy and band that started the 'new

blues' craze in the early 80's at home in Austin on 2 amazing concerts!

The first one Stevie sure does look nervous and it's quite funny to

see him playing 'Pride And Joy' on ol' 'Red' instead of his #1 ! Stevie

and the boys are really blasting away, especially on his cover of 'Voodoo

Child (Slight Return)' where he builds and builds. That's the thing about

Double Trouble ; they have a real awareness of dynamics. The show has

been out on video before but, with a great picture transfer, and

excellent sound, you can pick out all the little nuances that fueled SRV

& DT. As they say, the attention is in the details....

The second show, some 6 years later is quite a relevation. You notice

just how much Stevie's 'sound' actually changed but still sounds like

the great man. This is one hell of a show! The band (completed at this

time by Reese Wynans on keyboards) are on fine form. Appearing relaxed

and comfortable in their homestate surroundings and displaying the kind

of purity in their music that can only come from a well-oiled, road

worked in blues band, they play the hell out of 'TightRope', my fav SRV

song, and with real fire under 'Leave My Girl Alone' & 'Cold Shot' you

just know that you're getting to see a band in it's prime.

The band are squeezing every last drop of sweat and emotion out of their

instruments. This is a really good, and inexpensive way, to get a

real taster for SRV & DT...for the rest of us it's time to sell those

video's and upgrade...because like 'Live From Austin Texas', you're

worth it....

This DVD is absolutely first-rate, prime Stevie Ray. As the other reviewers have said, it contains extracts from two shows. The second one is the greater one for me because Stevie Ray was a well and happy man at this point and utterly at the peak of his considerable prowess. As a friend of mine pointed out, it's as if he has one foot in another, higher realm as he plays. He's relaxed, he's having a great time and every note he sings and plays connects with both the audience and the heavens. And his superb band are right there with him.

For more of the second concert, you'll have to buy the 'SRV' three CD plus one DVD boxed set. There's many superb tracks on the CDs but it's worth the price for the DVD alone, which is flawless, like its partner under review here.
