I am the audit and technical director for Leavitt Walmsley Associates Ltd who are a firm of Chartered Certified Accountants based in Sale, South Manchester and specialise in financial reporting and auditing as well as having an interest in small business taxation issues.
In 2011 I was delighted to be named 'Accounting Technician of the Year' at the British Accountancy Awards.
My first book 'The Core Aspects of IFRS and IAS' was published in August 2009 followed by The Interpretation and Application of International Standards on Auditing in 2011. My next book, IFRS For Dummies publishes on 20 April 2012 in the UK and shortly afterwards on Amazon.com in May 2012.
I write extensively for AccountingWEB.co.uk on financial reporting and auditing subjects and I also lecture on auditing and financial reporting issues. In 2012 I will also co-author a third book on frequently asked questions on IFRS.
My hobbies are my family and friends and I love socialising (sometimes too much!!) I also like travelling (though not so keen on foreign food) as well as writing. My passion is writing - it always gives me a 'buzz' when people comment on how my book has helped them or when I receive feedback on my articles telling me how informative and helpful they are as that is when everything I have worked for and everything I do is worth it.
