Steve McQueen: A Tribute to the King of Cool (Dalton Watson Fine Books), tells the actor's story through the eyes of those who knew him best: family, friends, co-stars, business associates, acquaintances and adoring fans from around the globe. Written in passage form, each person brings a different view to the man and the legend, presenting him in an unsurpassed 360-degree perspective. It reads like a biography and is sure to please McQueen fans. Accompanying the 200 passages are hundreds of photos, many of which are seen here for the first time. The 384-page book includes a foreword by his widow Barbara McQueen, a family tree, copies of personal documents and memorabilia, and passages from several Hollywood luminaries. The book has been published in two versions. The Special Edition, in a slip case, is limited to 2000 numbered copies signed by both Marshall Terrill and Barbara McQueen. It includes a CD of a recording of a lecture given by Steve McQueen at Loyola Marymount University in 1978, where he talked about the making of An Enemy of the People, and afterwards took questions from the audience

5.0 out of 5 stars Steve McQueen....One of a Kind! 6 Aug 2010
By Victoria - Published on Amazon.com
In the interest of "full disclosure" let me say up front that I had the privilege to be selected as a "contributor" to Marshall Terrill's new book, "Steve McQueen....The King of Cool". I knew McQueen only briefly during the making of the film "The Towering Inferno", released in 1974. I was then a Captain on the Los Angeles City Fire Department (later Chief Officer) and was hired to instruct McQueen in the use of a Rescue Harness I was then developing for the fire department, which was used in the helicopter rescues sequences in the film. Many years later the author heard of an interview that McQueen had given me for the LAFD's monthly magazine and it is also included in the book. Marshall's new book is a fantastic illustrated biography of McQueen and certainly exceeded my expectations and I recommend it without reservation to those who love films and especially are interested in one of the most charismatic film actors of the 70's and 80's, or for that matter, any OTHER period in the history of motion pictures. I found McQueen to be an admirable "man's man" but there is little question that the "Ladies Loved Him TOO!" s/Richard W.Baker Sr., Battalion Chief, Ref. LAFD

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Manning Review: Steve McQueen: A Tribute To The King of Cool by Marshall Terrill 19 Aug 2010
By MICHAEL MANNING - Published on Amazon.com
At the outset, let me say in all fairness that I contributed to this book. I've been a fan of Steve McQueen since I was nine years-old, and I have produced "The Annual Steve McQueen Film Festival" using the blog medium for over five-years. With this in mind, I was enormously privileged to find myself in the company of many actors who knew Steve and worked with him on films that you will immediately recognize. In addition, many of Steve's personal friends add a wonderful dimension to this book. Carefully compiled by author Marshall Terrill with a foreword by Steve's widow, Barbara McQueen, this hard bound book is truly a keepsake that you will want to pass along to your children and grandchildren--it is that precious! Each of the tributes are written with an uncommon candor, accompanied by wonderful photography (including rare shots of Steve on film locations)that provides the reader with an enjoyable journey through the life and career of one of the most celebrated actors and American icons of our time. If you hurry, I suggest purchasing the Limited Edition with a hardbound case that houses the book and a rare audio CD of Steve McQueen's sole appearance as a guest speaker in 1978 at a Loyola Marymount University film class in Los Angeles, California following Steve's film release of Ibsen's classic, "An Enemy of the People". In that CD, students participate in a lively Question and Answer exchange with McQueen that is at once endearing and insightful. The reader will marvel at the scope of writers who shared so completely about their personal memories of Steve McQueen. What emerges is a truly rich experience, a journey through Steve's childhood into adulthood and along his formidable film career. This book is unmatched in its authenticity. Sadly, some of the actors who participated in this noble project have recently passed away. But what remains in these pages is poignant and unforgettable. Sit back and enjoy a delightful and exciting reading experience about a beloved actor who is today dearly missed--thirty-years after his untimely passing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just buy it 6 Aug 2010
By D. Baggs - Published on Amazon.com
This book is immense, never have I read so many personal accounts of interaction with McQueen. The opportunity to read so many personal unheard stories in one place is fantastic and reveals much information about the private world of Steve McQueen.

Yes a thousand pictures tell a thousand words, but we've seen those pictures a thousand times. This book is full unique and wonderful tales that fans simply would not have known had Marshall not put this together.

A true accomplishment, any McQueen fan would be foolish not to buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Cool the King of Cool Himself Would Be Proud! 6 Oct 2010
By A. J. Westbrook - Published on Amazon.com
What an amazing tribute to an amazing man written and produced in such an amazing way!
Everything about this book is top notch! I loved reading what others thought of Steve and their experiences with him. I really admired that they didn't hold back and told their stories, warts and all. Steve was not a saint but he was an awesome actor, a man's man and as has been quoted, a ladies man too!
What a treasure this book is. For any fan of Steve McQueen and the Hollywood stars of yore!
This book is a MUST for every actor and every fan of acting. Actors are people and this let's us see the man behind the actor!
Marshall Terrill has done Steve Proud!!!
