5.0 out of 5 stars Another great pair of live shows 26 April 2013

Here are a pair of live performances by Steve Coogan, one of the best if not the best British comedians in modern times. Excellent and hilarious watching if you're a fan (I just wish Alan Partridge the TV series would come to Amazon Instant Video!)
3.0 out of 5 stars Lack of Subtitles Equals Waste of Time 16 Mar 2014

I adore Steve Coogan. I've watched 'The Trip' over and over, and have tried to go back and watch everything he's done in chronological order. But it's an exercise in futility because I simply can't understand what the characters are saying. This one had an annoying live-audience laugh track, which made it worse. I've watched almost all of Steve Coogan's movies that have subtitles and love them even when other reviewers say they were expecting a funnier Steve. I just think he's brilliant. I don't know who's responsible for subtitles---the producers, the creators, whatever---but if the Brits don't start translating their shows for American audiences, they are losing out on a huge population who love Brit drama and comedy. Even with volume cranked and a quiet room, I ended up fast-forwarding through most of the skits on this show. Very frustrating when you really want to listen and enjoy, but can't. I'm giving it three stars though I'm sure it deserves more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lost In Translation, I Guess 9 Jan 2014

The movie Philomena was my introduction to Steve Coogan. Liked his performance a lot so searched to see his earlier stuff. Found a movie called The Trip which showed his comedic skill. Then found these videos of stage performances that I assume are from early in his career. Did not care for them. His accent is hard to understand particularly as the character Pauline Calf. The humour seems an inside joke with his British audiences. I chose not to finish watching either video.
