My book began on a Portugal beach in 1987 when I realised my engineering knowledge revealed a startling answer to the mystery of the dinosaurs' massive size - an ancient reduced gravity.

One of the most enduring mysteries about the dinosaurs is their massive size but a reduced gravity would make life lighter, so all land-based life could increase in scale with seemingly weak bones, muscles and ligaments. A reduced gravity explains the dinosaurs' large size.

This theory allowed me to calculate that dinosaurs' gravity would need to be about half the present force of gravity to explain their large size - a truly astonishing conclusion.

Some geologists have noted that there is geological evidence that the ancient Earth was smaller - this is commonly known as the Expanding Earth theory. An Earth that was smaller in size and mass would have a reduced gravity so both theories predict the same astonishing conclusion using completely different reasoning and evidence.

By 1994 I had published all these conclusions in my book, Dinosaurs and the Expanding Earth, and the updated third edition has recently been published in 2011. My web site at www.dinox.org is also an additional resource to the book where other useful information can be found.
