Stephen Harding was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford receiving a DSc. He was an Ernest Oppenheimer Fellow at Cambridge and is now Professor of Applied Biochemistry at Nottingham. Fellow scientists know him as a Biomolecular Hydrodynamicist with over 350 publications & he is a Medallist of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The public know him more for his work on Vikings and DNA, particularly in the region of his origins - Wirral. Steve has appeared in many TV & radio broadcasts, featuring in all three series of ITV's acclaimed Lost Treasures and runs a popular blog with David Griffiths.
In recognition of his outstanding service to Norway in 2012 King Harald V made him a Knight of the First Class of den Kongelige Norske Fortjenstorden - the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit - the highest award to a foreigner who is not a Head of State.
