Book Description

1 Sep 1996 Classic Munsch
Stephanie decides to be different from her classmates and ties her hair into a ponytail. The next day all the girls at school have ponytails! So Stephanie changes her ponytail to the side of her head and the next day all the girls have ponytails coming out just above their ears! Stephanie changes her ponytail to a topknot, and all the girls (and now all the boys) copy her again. So, she declares that her next fashion will be to shave her head! Follow the hilarity through 11 illustrated spreads which result in the whole school (plus the teacher) turning up with shaven heads only to find that Stephanie has reverted to her original ponytail!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very exciting and amusing book 10 April 2000
By A Customer
I first came across this book when my teacher Mrs Basi read it to our class.I found this book very humerous because the end was funny.I think the moral of this story was that if you always copy other people theyll get there own back on you. By Rashida aged 10 and Shanna aged 10

I like this as a story of celebrating individuality - which it does in a memorable & entertaining way - however, I'm not so keen on the unrealistic view it gives of bullying in which the main character is being tormented by bein called 'ugly' one minute & then copied by the same people the next. It could also do with highlighting more about where she finds her strength from as she just seems to ignore the comments & keep going back for more, which most kids would not relate to in my view

Bought this book for my 5 year old Grandaughter and she loves it. There is a good message in it about bullying too.
Illustrations are excellent and I highly recommend this book.
