Book Description

A complete guide to creative knitting, including step-by-step techniques, personal tips and over 20 inspiring projects

Product Description

Knitting is experiencing an enormous boom, as more and more people appreciate the opportunity it affords to create something truly special and individual. Many of these new knitters, however, have not learnt the skills from their mothers, like previous generations, and need help with their techniques. There can be no better guide than Debbie Bliss, highly successful knitwear designer and author of numerous bestselling books. In Knitting Workbook Debbie provides a guide not only to basic techniques - casting on, key knitting stitches, sewing up garments successfully etc - but also pinpoints the key features of her successful designs and takes knitters through them step-by-step. A basic guide to how to knit, accompanied by step-by-step illustrations and photographs, kicks off the book. Debbie then concentrates on the techniques she feels are essential to creating successful knitwear, from using simple shapes to colour work such as fair isle and intarsia and adding finishing touches with embroidery and beading. Colour illustrations are used to demonstrate each technique then a range of projects, featuring step-by-step photographs pinpointing key stages, allow the knitter to practise and perfect their skill. As a guide to how to knit, and an insight into the secrets of this highly successful designer, this book will be invaluable. (20000915)

I think it is a good books for those knitters looking for "HOW TO" and some "Patterns". The pictures and instruction is very clear. If you are beginner or Intermediate knitters, this book will help you. If you are expert knitter, I think "The Big Book of knitting" will be more suitable for you. Anyway, Debbie Bliss's patterns are always attractive to me.

Debbie Bliss again delivers an inspiring knitting book, full of step-by step guides that will advantage any level of knitter. Her approach is positive and encouraging allowing the reader to explore knitting with confidence.Debbie's book makes use of beautiful photography to display her knitting patterns in a way that not only captures her individual style, but also the very tradition of knitting! This book differs from any of Debbie's previous books. It doesn't simply demonstrate 'how' to knit and 'progress' with knitting, but it also allows the reader to add some of their own 'imagination' to what they are knitting.A truly attractive package for any knitter.Great!

I have been knitting for more than 20 years. I found these patterns brilliant with lots of advice on how to create your own or adapt existing patterns. So excellent for the beginner and more experienced knitter. Her patterns are not just for stick insects but also for the more cuddly knitter!!!! Also would recommend her other books, least so the Easy Knits as it mainly contains baby knits.
