This short book covers everything you need to know to obtain a grant of probate and administer an estate, in a clear and straightforward manner. It includes worked examples of the Probate Application Form PA1 and the Inheritance Tax Forms IHT 205 and 200, as well as examples of the grant of probate and a request form for the transfer to shares to a beneficiary. Does what it says on the cover and takes you through 'step-by-step'. Recommended.

Really worth buying 8 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback
I'd argue that it's not exactly a step-by-step guide (for which I'd expect some sort of comprehensive checklist or flowchart approach) it's more of a task-by-task guide.
However it's a really useful book which I'm currently using to guide me through an executorship. Everything is spelled out clearly in understandable language.

I would strongly suggest anyone using the book for a probate guide downloads the relevant forms for reference while reading the book. The copies in the book are condensed in size and not so easy to read, and some of the HMRC forms reproduced in the book are also strangely missing important parts (letter codes on some of the boxes)for which you again need downloaded forms.
Also useful is to download the HMRC glossary, as some of the terms in the book are not fully described.

To summarise - it's well worth buying and a very useful aid to wills and probate processes.
