As I love anything to do with dance, I know that the female lead in this film, Kathryn McCormick comes from So You Think You Can Dance in America. She won her series and has now gone on to become quite successful as a professional dancer. What I liked about having her play Emily was that I knew who she was and knew what she was capable of. Many of the dancers in the previous films in this franchise have been unknown to me and that doesn't help much when it comes to liking a character. McCormick was great as Emily and even though she's a new actress when it comes to films, she was convincing in her role. A few lines here and there were a little bit forced but overall, she did well. Her dancing was amazing too, which is to be expected. This time, the film mixes contemporary with a mix of styles which The Mob provides.

Opposite McCormick is Ryan Guzman who plays Sean. However, I hadn't heard of Guzman before so had no idea what he would be like in this film. I'm happy to say that he's my favourite lead male in these films next to Channing Tatum who starred in the first film. Guzman gives Sean the likeability factor as it is clear that he cares a lot about what he is fighting for and for the people around him. He's extremely hot and has an amazing body so he's also easy on the eye as well. He and McCormick have fantastic on screen chemistry and the relationship between the two was extremely believable.

What I really liked about this film was the inclusion of flash mobs. This is a sensation that has become insanely popular over the past couple of years and I think that it was done extremely well in this film. The Mob, however, was a very unoriginal name for the crew in this film and while it explains what they do well, and easily, I wish they had been called something else.

My review is for the 3D Blu-ray version and I have to say that this film looks great in HD. Very detailed and colourful and I recognised some scenes from Miami. I had been on holiday to Miami and decided to get this film because of that but also because dance films seem to be good in 3D. This film doesn't disappoint on the 3D side it works well. Like a lot of 3D it has some great depth to the scenes with some parts that come out at you. Some of the better 3D that I have seen and enjoyed. The story is simple but works, good to watch with girlfriend or remind you of a trip to Miami :)

I've seen a few dance movies, and this is one of the best. It concerns a dance group called the Mob, who go around creating flash mobs. First closing a road off, then disguising themselves as art objects at a gallery, and finally creating havoc at a restaurant. One of the co-founders of the Mob meets a young girl, who leads the dancing at the restaurant. His brother finds out the the girl is the daughter of a business man, planning to build a hotel in their area of Miami, making people homeless and unemployed. The mob, without his brother's knowledge, stage a dance routine at a party hosted by the businessman, and reveal the truth that his daughter is plotting against him too, to prevent the project taking place. The brothers fall out, as does the businessman's daughter. Having failed a dance audition, she advises her boyfriend to stage a final routine. He then reconciles with his brother and the rest of the Mob. The ending is so obvious, but satisfactory, whilst the dancing is very good.

I've seen step up 1 and found this on Amazon Prime, I must admit after the firster 5 minutes i nearly turned it off as it seemed a bit cheesy and OTT to start with but once the whole story and idea started it all fell together so you need to bear through the first bit of cheesiness and then after that it's fab!

I'll just briefly describe the movie itself as just what you expect out of a low budget (?) production mostly oriented to children and young audiences. The story is classic, told and retold a million times over - but if you are the type that still enjoys the 80s kind of storylines of the style big-bad-corporation-wants-to-tear-down-our-hood, you'll certainly enjoy this one. And the dancing is, of course, very good.

As for the 3D aspect, it is fairly good. Granted, dancers don't jump out of the screen so much as I'd like them to, but it's not a bad 3D experience. There is certainly depth, good added perspective and a feeling of things (like dust particles etc) coming out of the screen from time to time.
I watched it on a Samsung ES6300 40" 3D LED TV with active 3D glasses.

Good dance moves! The story line is pretty far-fetched, unrealistic and lacks any form of substance. One good message in the film saying that dance is a form of expression and putting your point across. In my humble opinion Step Up, Step Up 2, Step Up 3 are better films in comparison to Step Up 4.

Step Up - Good story line with good street and ballet dancers. Romantic story line
Step Up 2 - Good street and break dancer. Neat and believable story line
Step Up 3 - Excellent street and break dancers. Nice story line. Final battle is wicked!
