CD Description
Bright young saxophone talent sounding somewhere between Stan Getz and Courtney Pine (minus the showboating chops) Brown's music is an accessible mix of classic jazz tones with a twist of R&B and funk. Something of an unusual 'crossover' star in the making (she's not a singer for starters) -- Time Out YolanDa Brown has releases A Step Closer after spending late 2008 touring the UK, opening for The Temptations. This culminated in her being invited to perform in the line-up as the 6th Tempt featuring on the encore number of their last show and sharing the final bow. All YolanDa s musical projects have met with rave reviews from the media and loving support from her ever growing fan base. With an unbroken series of sold out concerts, the MOBO Award for Best Jazz and a UMA nomination to her credit in 2008; YolanDa Brown s 2009 diary began with several highlights. These include guest appearances at events held at the House of Commons, The Indigo O2 and the Broadway Theatre London, to mark the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. She has also collaborated with various artists; from- Alexander O Neil, Mica Paris, Sway, Omar, Bashy, Soweto Kinch, Sonny Bradshaw to Terri Walker, to name but a few. She is considered by many to be one of a kind and is as passionate re-interpreting a current chart-topper, as she is reprising a Jazz standard or launching into an original composition. YolanDa Brown announces new UK tourdates- commencing on April 17th 2009 at the Old Theatre, Hove. Her tour will also take in Marlborough, Glasgow and Isle Of Wight Jazz Festivals.
