5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter 24 Sept. 2013

For $3, you really can't ask for a better introduction to wireless penetration testing. The book covers setting up Backtrack 5 from your HD to a VM, depending on your preference.

Then it dives right into 3 very brief sections: a few terminal commands, their use, and how they function. You will get to learn the very basics of Reaver, commands like aircrack, airmon, and airodump for wireless handshaking and data capture, and running dictionary attacks. Basically 3 small sections, but perfect for a complete beginner like myself to get a feel for testing in a home environment.

This is a great book for a novice looking for the information to do wireless Penetration testing. Myself being a system admin I was given the task of penetration testing our networks. All I needed was the commands to use since I am familiar with Linux/Backtrack, which this book does great. There could have been a little more explanation on what else the commands could do such as syntax but a simple /? solves this. Great little Backtrack 5 and wireless penetration book. Especially for the price.

"While this book isn't really an overview of backtrack 5, "step by step", it manages to remain highly relevant due to its instructions for a particular command-line tool."

I was expecting more information about wireless networks, not only how to connect to them by brute force. But it has some nice commands and tips.
