This book is a great example of how important it is in work and life to balance the needs of all the stakeholders involved. What Christine Brown-Quinn reminds the reader of, is that the choices they make at one stage of their life do not have to be forever. Some priorities that take centre stage when your career is on the ascendancy may be different to those that you choose when you have children. With a lot of different people involved from perhaps a childminder, partner, manager at work, children etc. etc. juggling them all takes just as much attention and management as other areasa of life.
Ms Brown-Quinn presents her advice in a no-nonsense, practical fashion, based on her own experiences, and outlines her 3C's approach of commitment, communication and conflict management as the way to manage the situation. So no need to feel inadequate when reading this book, just feel thankful that someone who has been there and done it (Christime was a high powered business woman in a corporate job)has been willing to write about how to manage things so that other parents (both men and women) can learn too.
