In a metal scene dominated by uninspiring breakdowns and cliched lyrics, the need for some new is obvious. Enter Nekrogoblikon. A whirlwind of frantic guitar riffs, relentless drumming, pounding bass, a powerful dual vocal attack, as well as folk inspired melodies, occasional electronic breaks and synth work, Nekrogoblikon are an exciting prospect. Top it all off with tongue-in-cheeks lyrics about goblins and general decimation, you have a streamlined, polished beast waiting to pounce, and with Stench, boy have they pounced.
Highlights include No One Survives, Bears, and Prince of the Land of Stench, but every track on the album is worth its place, absolutely no sign of any fillers. Each song hits hard and is brutally heavy, but tasteful, and very catchy. Everything about this album is brilliant, and in my opinion an absolute must-listen for any metalhead.
