Having looked at various Santoku knives I opted for the Sabatier as the others I own have always combined quality construction and a good feel in the hand.
This knife is excellent, and at half the price or less than some of the competition very good value. It took me a while to get used to the chopping style compared to some of the more European chef's knives - but now it is second nature.

I can't believe how good this knife is, and why I've never had one before. I own several globals, amongst others, including a very similar model and this is at least 50% better in my opinion, more like wusthof in quality. It's at least £20 cheaper than the global model, despite being fully forged where the globals at that price aren't. It feels extremely well balanced in your hand and has a general feel of quality. Takes a razor sharp edge that'll easily cut through a thick tea-towel with very light pressure, and the edge lasts very well (unlike the globals!). For just over £35 this knife is an absolute bargain

Good knife, but heavy and thick blade
A good quality knife, but the blade is quite thick and hence heavy. It's perfect for soft foods (like meat) but not hard stuff (eg some veg). Read more
