I had similar problems to others and found that you need to wind the timer fully and then rotate/return to the required no. of minutes. This action gives a ringing of increased duration. Had no probs since. Thought this may be of help.

Stellar Premium Egg shaped timer

Not a great product - looks fine and is easy to use but doesn't always ring! So is unreliable. You have to keep watching it to check when the time is up which means you may as well... Read more

Poor Warning Alarm

The time-up warning alarm is absurdly short and ridiculously quiet. Basicaly no use at all in a busy house. Many others to choose from - don't try this one.
