More About the Author

Simon Puttock was born in a town named after a boot and brought up all over the shop. This has led to a lifelong confusion about Where Things Are. He also cannot do left and right in a hurry. For this reason he has thankfully never learned to drive. When asked about himself, he will admit to being left-handed and interested in cacti. He says he likes lots of other things too, but often forgets what they are.

As a writer, he thinks it is important to be well organised, use notebooks and stick to a routine, and wishes he could do any of these things.

Simon is currently looking forward to trying to grow tomatoes on his window sill. And then eating them. (He hopes that by the time you read this, he will have achieved this ambition.)

This is a simple story about a girl who imagines herself exploring in outer space when she should be getting into bed. My 3 year old daughter loves it, and frequently asks for it to be read to her. She has even started saying "check" instead of "yes". I love it because it is a good alternative to the princess stuff that my daughter also likes.

I love this, and so does my daughter (3), who is really into space ships at the moment. I bought it as a fathers' day present from my daughter to her dad, as it features a father putting his daughter to bed. Stella has a fantastic imagination, which really captures the world of make-believe in which toddlers tend to live.

My little boy loves this book. He has many books.....but this stands out.I feel like I found a hidden gem!I read the words in capitals in a robot type voice and he loves it. I am a mum reading to my son and he loves it but the book is about a daddy reading to his daughter which you don't find often. Sure you will love it too!

I bought my son this book a few months ago, and he loves it, it was his favourite story for bedtime for weeks. He is 3 and a half, and he knows all of the words and enjoys 'reading' the story to me.

A beautifully illustrated, well written story that any boy or girl would love.

A book with Daddy in the lead role 10 Sept. 2008
By R. Rundell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
It's really not fair that there are few books about Daddy's and their daughters. I like to read this one to my three year old when her dad (a pilot) is out of town. I also like that Stella wants to be a space explorer and not another princess (bleck). This book is great for little girls with big imaginations and a big love for their Daddy. I especially love her encounter with alien life - blue bugs.
Of course I'm partial, but.... 2 Jun. 2013

My daughter's name is Stella so i couldn't resist checking out this book. Thanks to all the great reviews I knew buying without reading would be a safe decision! As usual the previous reviewers were right and now our family has another memorable story as part of our collection. And my 2 1/2 y.o. daughter Stella thinks its so amazing that the story is about her lol!
Space exploration and childhood imagination 30 May 2013
By readeveryday - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Earth to Stella is an outstanding kids book! Stella is a young girl (perhaps 5 or 6) with a vivid imagination. When it's time for bed, her dad asks what story she'd like him to tell. Stella asks for a space story.

As she's waiting for Dad, Stella embarks on a space mission, traveling the universe to new planets and stars. She encounters new life forms and terrains. Earth (Dad) even checks in with Stella during her mission.

The illustrations are wonderful and the story is well-written for this age group (4-7 yr old). Both of my children (8-yr old boy and 4-yr old girl) loved it. There is no moral or feel-good quality to the book, but it encourages the young reader to explore using one's imagination.

This book is worthy of becoming a permanent addition to our family book shelf.
