This was a great movie that allowed to public to visualize the truth of how some runaway teen live and also show us that there is a way out of such a life. It also helps us to strive to better ourselves.

A challenging film. 23 April 2000

"Stella Does Tricks" is a challenging and often confronting voyage into the world of child prostitution. It is well photographed, and extremely well acted, especially by relative newcomer Kelly MacDonald, from "Trainspotting". Well worth investing in.

Disturbing... 11 April 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm a fan of Kelly MacDonand. She's a good actress and I recalled this being a good movie so I bought it ten years after first seeing it on Channel 4. This time round I found it very bleak and depressing. Stella tries to live a normal teenage life with her teenage street worker friends but the reality is hard to deal. To cope she lives in a semi-dream state constantly reminiscing about childhood days with her dad. And to amuse herself she makes fun of her fat middle-aged clients and vandalises property, a metaphor for the damage being done to her. But reality kicks her in the teeth when she takes up with a loser who sells her for drugs and she suffers appalling abuse. It's all very depressing. Kelly looks lovely and acts it well but I couldn't watch to the end, it was dragging me downnnnnnn..... JP.
