Stella Adler's "The Art of Acting" is a mustfor anyone involved in Acting, OR for that matter any other creative
profession for Stella Adler insists that one must "Learn to please yourself, but Dont Be easily pleased"
I am only part way through this book...three or four chapters in, but it is FANTASTIC! She dispels many notions and
pre-conceptions held about the method and talks largely about the use of ones imagination in order to play roles
such as Macbeth and Hamlet which exist beyond our sphere of understanding. She offers lots of advice but at the same time
insists we go out and find out for ourselves. Its written almost as if Adler were talking directly to us. She does not believe
in fancy language and gets right to the point with everything she says. She also tells us we should choose what we READ very wisely
we should not just read a book that has fallen off a book shelf into our laps we should seek out Good, Strong Rigorous material.
This is probably as wise a read for a creative person that you could get whether you want to become an Actor an Artist or a Designer.

I bought this book for my daughter who is an Acting student and she has found it invaluable to her studies. She has told me that the text content is easy to read and understand and would recommend it to any budding actor.

The Art Of Acting 15 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
This is one the few books one picks up and feels the author is addressing the reader. Not in a lecturing fashion but rather in an almost nurturing way. She gives of herself and you move with her through the pages. And the pages are so full of stories and helps and hints .Its an easy read. Its entertaining and educational and practical. Will read it many times . always a good sign dont you think.
