As a huge fan of the extremely popular Vampire Diaries television drama series, I was also keen to get `stuck-into' L.J Smith's book series (of the Vampire diaries and Stefan's diaries). Beautifully blending paranormal themes with a fresh, contemporary feel `The Vampire Diaries' books are current and classy within this highly competitive genre. If you enjoy Young Adult fiction with a darkly sinister, spinechilling twist then I highly recommend both the TV series and the books that began the world-wide love affair with Vampirism!

Volume four of Stefan's Diaries (the ripper) focuses on his relationship with his brother, whom he last saw over twenty-years ago along with haunting memories of mystic falls. However, when news from London reaches Stefan about a brutal killer on the loose (aka. Jack the Ripper), the only suspect in Stefan's mind is that of a Vampire...and one with a deadly bite and lust for blood...this is an intense, heartrending tale of brotherly bonds amid electric tension and heated conflict. It is certainly reminiscent of those family tensions and dramas, for as the saying goes...

"Blood runs thicker than water"

Full of shocking drama, unfolding secrets and suspense this has to be one of my favorites of Stefan's Diaries (Origins, Bloodlust & the craving). With a touch of the danger similar to that from Twilight Saga: in the form of Nomadic Vampires, with a creepy feeling of foreboding as the tension rises, this is a book that will have you glued to the pages with anticipation. I love how the books have covers of the television series and those actors whom we see as those distinctive characters within the books, which make it all the more striking.

The Vampire Diaries are an exceptional series and so I cannot praise them enough!!

Well what can i say! I absolutely loved loved loved everyone of these books! Ive finally finished all ten of them and im gutted to have finished them. As i had started watching the TV series before i realised there was books, i was expecting them to be closely related and although i knew who all of the characters are they are completely different! Damon and Stefan are pretty similar to the tv side but say Elena and Caroline and Meredith and Bonny are different, but its soooo much better!!! I cant believe how hooked i have been to them! I would def recommend these books to everyone! Obviously start off at the first and work your way through but you will find, i think, that you wont be able to put the blighters down till youve finished!! Thanks to the author for a great read!!! :-)

What I didn't realise about this book is that number 4,5&6 are all connected. They follow the same storyline (about Samuel, the witches and Jack the Ripper) which I quite liked. Number 1,2&3 all have their separate plots which lead up to this nice storyline. It sometimes felt a bit dragged on but still kept me gripped to find out what happens next. The relationship between Damon and Stefan is portrayed amazingly within every one of these books. They are well worth my reading time! the condition of the book was perfect just like all of the others

It has been 20 years since Stefan and Damon took different paths, however, they are much closer than they think. With Damon merely living as an Italian Count only a few towns away from Stefan. For Stefan living as a groundskeeper in a small English country town, his troubles appear to finally be over. Until he heads into London for some 'shopping' which will eventually turn into his biggest nightmare.

Anyone who knows me or reads this blog will know I am a huge vampire fan, I have been since I was a little girl and my dad used to buy my vampire books. So, The Vampire Dairies are right up my street. I first read the books in my teens, many moons ago before they became as popular as they are now. They have never dated and I still love reading them even in my early 30's (shhh). The new books are just as good as the originals. Stefan is not my favourite in The Vampire Diaries series, my weakness is for Damon Salvatore. These books fill in the gaps before Elena.

This book carries on with the story of Damon and Stefan Salvatore, two brothers whom are both vampires. It has been a while since the brothers have seen each other, twenty years in fact. But they are never that far away from each other. We follow them from human to vampire.

Stefan is living in England and suspects the work of a brutal killer is his brother. When he travels to London he looks Damon up. He assures Stefan he is not the ripper. So they work together finding out who it is. Then a twist is thrown in and an original may be after them. The showdown is one you don't want to miss. I don't want to spoil it but you won't see it coming.

My only disappointment is that they didn't follow along in a similar story to the tv show, I know it's based on the show, but the time frame differences do make a difference. We meet the characters from the show and get to fill in some gaps along the way. It is a really enjoyable and fun read.

I am a huge fan of L.J Smith books, I always have been. I know these aren't written by her anymore and that is disappointing, but they have tried and it is excellent writing. It is a fast paced and compelling read, one you will not want to put down. I would highly recommend this for all vampire fans, Vampire Diaries fans and urban fantasy fans.
